APEC Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Conference Broadcast via Scopus Platforms | |

TEL-AVIV, Israel -- October 16, 2003 -- Scopus Network Technologies (www.scopus.net), a leading supplier of digital compression technology to the broadcasting industry, today announced that it has been selected by the Communications Authority of Thailand (CAT) to provide digital broadcasting platforms for this week’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Conference. The conference is taking place in Thailand’s capital, Bangkok, from October 13-21, 2003.
CAT chose Scopus for this showcase project to ensure that broadcast of the conference sessions and special meetings would meet its exacting professional standards. Scopus’ platforms are deployed to allow live broadcasts of conference proceedings over G.703/E3 telecom lines. With APEC’s 21 member states having a combined gross domestic product (GDP) of over $18 trillion, CAT’s transmissions will be monitored by broadcasters around the world including those from APEC states such as the United States, Japan, China, Korea, Indonesia, Russia, Canada, Australia, and Chile. The platforms deployed by CAT are based on Scopus’ CODICO product line and include the E-1000 professional encoders and IRD-2800 4:2:2 integrated receiver decoders. Similar platforms that are capable of high-quality video transmission over G.703/ E3 telecom lines were used by Korea Telecom for the 2002 World Cup events.
